Kickboxer Vengeance “The Pulsating New Kickboxer”

Alain Moussi is the new martial arts star. This he proves once and for all by stepping into Jean Claude Van Damme’s star-making role of Kurt Sloan in the new version of the famous Kickboxer saga, Kickboxer Vengeance.

If you long for gravity-defying martial arts fighting but disdain stunt doubles and CGI effects, this is your movie and Alain Moussi is your guy.

He does what only a master can do onscreen, without trick cuts or effects. He defies gravity. While playing the role of an underdog fighter who is driven by vengeance and gifted with heart, but at the same time a real novice whose life depends on mastery, he displays in many lightning-paced fight scenes a willingness to amaze and stupefy.

In the field of really fast and quirky Muay Thai action, Kickboxer; Vengeance blazes a new trail. The script by Dimitri Logothetis and Jim McGrath takes the original Kickboxer story of a great fighter coming of age, and sets it in the modern world of illegal underground fight clubs,

where high rollers gather in hidden places to watch two contenders fight to the death, while the Thai Royal Police are in a shooting war trying to shut these fights down.

According to a cast member that wants to remain anonymous, credited director John Stockwell never even came to Thailand. Producer/writer Dimitri Logothetis was forced to step in and lucky for Kickboxer he did.

The final fight is frighteningly real and completely unpredictable, even for those quite familiar with the original 1989 film.
