King Narai Reign Fair 2016 13 – 21 February 2016
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Lopburi Office is inviting local and international tourists to travel back in time, and experience the glorious era of King Narai the Great that will be beautifully re-enacted during the King Narai Reign Fair 2015. The nine-day event is being organised to pay homage to King Narai the Great, who lived from 1580–1655. During his reign, King Narai turned Lopburi province as well as Thailand (then known as Siam), into the centre of culture, religion and diplomatic relations.
Highlights include a regal ceremony and a spectacular procession of floats, horses and elephants to pay homage to King Narai the Great, a specially-organised ‘changing of the guards’ performance, a light-and-sound presentation as well as a host of cultural displays and dances. Tourists can shop til they drop at the “retro” market, featuring shops offering traditional food and beverages in exchange for ‘ancient’ Thai bullet money.
To make the event even more memorable, the Lopburi province is set to welcome all tourists with a magnificent field of sunflowers, covering a 50-rai plot of land at Hnong Tham Temple and featuring a backdrop of Thieng Mountain, throughout the month of February. The area is known as one of the best places in Lopburi for taking sunflower pictures.
See a stunning re-enactment of the regal ceremonies from Siam’s earliest history; feast your eyes and ears on the parades including the majestic Elephants, dancers in traditional costumes and so much more
This really is a wonderful event and a great chance to share with the warm hearted people of Thailand their love and reverence for their past and present Monarchs and at the same time be surrounded by a party atmosphere that takes hold of all your senses and gives them a spectacular joy ride’
