It is 814 kilometres from Bangkok by Highway No.4 and is located 90 km to the southeast of Phang-nga and 180 km east of Phuket, covering an area of 4,708 sq.km. Bordering the Andaman Sea in the west, Krabi boasts countless natural marine attractions, including white sandy beaches, fascinating coral reefs, numerous islands and caves.

Apart from the world famous Phi Phi Islands, the province is also famous for the stunning limestone cliffs and rock formations which make it a mecca for rock climbers. Large numbers of tourists in Phuket usually make a side trip to Phi Phi Islands, or further eastwards to Krabi proper.

Noppharat Thara Beach

Located about 18 km. northwest of Krabi town, it is a 3-km long scenic beach lined with casuarina trees and coconut groves. Local people call Noppharat Thara Beach as had khlong haeng or dry beach. This is because during the low-tide periods, the beach will entirely emerge from water so that one can even walk to the offshore islets as seen in the pictures above.

Phranang Bay (or Au Nang)
Au Nang, KrabiLocated 6 km. from Noppharat Thara Beach, this is a large bay with several scenic beaches and 83 islands of various sizes and shapes. Due to its unspoilt natural beauty both on land and in the surrounding waters and easy accessibility, Au Nang has gradually developed to be Krabi’s most popular tourist attraction after Phi Phi Islands, with a growing number of accommodations and tour operators. Some famous beaches in the area are Tham Phra Nang, East Rai Le, West Rai Le, and Ton Sai.Tha Pom (Khlong Song Nam)

Tha Pom, Krabi
Tha Pom is about 34 km. from the provincial town of Krabi. The canal of Tha Pom is well known for its crystal clear water. It is called by local people khlong song nam in Thai or literally “two water canal”. This is because of its special feature location where seawater meets freshwater during the high-tide periods, resulting in a mixture of seawater and freshwater in the canal. Situated amidst mangrove forest and swamp forest, Tha Pom is home to an astonishing variety of creatures from the two kinds of forest areas. They adjust themselves to live together harmoniously in such specific conditions. A natural trail in Tha Pom has been improved to help conserve the area. And a 2-metre-high wooden bridge has been built along the trail over the forest areas to create this area as a natural classroom, presenting the forest ecosystem in a sensitive and interesting way.

The natural forest trail of Tha Pom has a total length of about 700 metres and takes around 45 minutes to walk through it. There are interpretation boards along the trail to explain the relationships among the different species of animals and plants under this specific ecological system. At the end of the trail is a lookout tower for a bird’s eye view of the place.
Visitors are recommended to walk in a circle from the starting point to the end in order not to miss any single place around there.
Miracle Beach
This miracle beach is a beach that appears temporarily about five days around the full moon day period, from December to May. When the sea water between Thap Island and Kai Island drops to the lowest level, this miracle white beach will appear linking the two islands together and visitors can rest, sunbath or do other activities on it as well as enjoy the breathtaking view of the islands around there.

Phi Phi Islands, Krabi Famed as among the most beautiful tropical islands of the world, Phi Phi Islands have become one of the most popular tourist attractions of Thailand. It was here that the well-known movie “The Beach” featured by Leonardo DiCaprio was shot.

Phi Phi Islands consist of six islets situated about 40 km from Krabi, Phi Phi Don, Phi Phi Le, Yung, Mai Phai (Bamboo), Bida Nok and Bida Nai.

Many people think that the islands are part of Phuket, but actually they belong to Krabi province
